Much of the area that Safe Kids Grand Forks covers is rural in nature. In fact, nearly 1 million children under the age of 19 in the U.S. live on farms or ranches, with many in North Dakota and Minnesota. Each year, approximately 70 children, ages 19 and under die from farm injuries and another 150,000 are injured on the farm in a preventable incident.
To raise awareness about farm injuries, Safe Kids Grand Forks and Ag Country have teamed up to assist with several Farm and Summer Safety Camps in and around our region. These events are held in the spring and/or fall of each year.
The communities in which these events are held include:
- Crookston
- East Grand Forks
- Grafton
- Northwood
Most of these camps are scheduled through the community school systems so they are not open for general attendance. For more information on these camps or on hosting one in your community, contact Safe Kids Grand Forks.
Progressive Ag is our partner in many of our Farm Safety Camps. For more information on their program, visit their website by clicking on the icon below.
